SDG 1.4.4: IUL participates in policy making at local, regional, national and/or global level to implement programmes and policies to end poverty in all its dimensions

On the level of Lebanon, and based on the vision of the university and the achievement of its goals for which it was established, the “Cultural Committee” in the Supreme Shiite Council, which includes professors and employees jointly between the Islamic University and the Council, is in charge of preparing for the establishment of universities for higher education and supervising their administration, in order to contribute to securing higher education for a large segment From the people of the homeland, based on the slogan of the Islamic University in Lebanon, a university for the whole nation. This joint committee also proposes and implements projects to combat illiteracy in society through the courses it prepares, in addition to paying attention to general cultural and educational affairs and educational curricula through means of raising the cultural and educational level of private schools, conducting educational studies and research, and developing the cultural movement.

The university also is preparing to establish social projects and institutions that provide shelter for the elderly, people with disabilities, orphans, and needy groups, education and training, caring for juveniles and combating homelessness. In addition to preparing projects to establish a healthy social center in the regions that respond to the needs of their people and provide them with the necessary social and health services, such as the establishment of medical clinics for examination, treatment and care of the mother and child, and the establishment of the role of guidance and direction for the development of natural and human resources, education of local industries, vocational and agricultural training, and everything that would. Activating the social development movement and proposing projects for the revitalization of villages, studying projects for establishing hospitals or contributing to their establishment, proposing appointing committees for managing social health centers, hospitals and social institutions belonging to the Council, taking care of, preserving and raising public health affairs, paying attention to women’s issues and improving their status, and paying attention to work and workers issues and housing issues for the needy and families Humble and low-income people. In addition to proposing projects and ways to combat illiteracy, paying attention to general cultural and educational affairs and educational curricula, proposing means to raise the cultural and educational level for private schools, conducting educational studies and research, proposing means for developing the cultural movement, proposing a system for giving grants and aid to higher education, specialization and training, and proposing candidates to benefit from them and from Grants and other aids allocated by the Council, preparing the council’s library project, organizing its processing, management and utilization.

There is also a second joint committee between the Supreme Shiite Council and the Islamic University in Lebanon called the “Youth Affairs Committee”. Sports and the Scout Movement. As well as an interest in developing moral education.

  • Conducting studies related to the economic and social development of the areas inhabited by the sect, collecting the studies put in place, and expressing opinions about them. Expressing opinions on general development projects, comprehensive general designs and implementation, and proposing development projects and appropriate designs.

The university has also established a center for development and training in order to provide the best academic and professional services to students, and it has been divided into four departments as follows:

Vocational Training Department

The center is concerned with providing field training for students to train them in a set of skills and experiences that are presented to them within an institutional framework, or within one of the areas of practice, so that knowledge is acquired consciously and intentionally. With the aim of transferring the trainee students from a limited level of knowledge in terms of: skills, attitudes, and understanding, to a better level that enables them to practice social service independently in the future, and field training is of great importance for the student preparation program, and the following are the importance and benefits of field training:

  • Field training represents the student’s first field of expertise, through the application of what he learned in the real environment and reality.
  • It gives the student the opportunity to deal with the various pressures that he may face and be exposed to when engaging in the labor market.
  • Helps the student to develop his understanding of the educational process procedures.

Enhances students’ individual learning skills. It provides an opportunity to interact and collaborate with teachers and trainers with experience in the field of work.

It gives students a high level of positive feeling and satisfaction about the profession they want to learn. It helps the student to understand the needs and characteristics of the class with which he works, and to know the tools and teaching aids used with this class.

Field training is an effective method; To help the student acquire new capabilities and skills that he did not possess, and these skills enable the student to expand his concepts, adjust his directions, and consolidate his ability to innovate, create, and innovate.

Among the tasks of this center is preparing an annual plan for training, determining the training needs of students, each according to his specialization, designing training programs that will raise the efficiency of trainees, preparing statistics and data for companies that students have joined to conduct training courses, and preparing annual reports on the training department (achievements, needs Obstacles), following up and evaluating the implementation of training programs, adhering to developments and developments in the local and external environment, coordinating with concerned colleges regarding nominations for training programs, preparing statistics and data on trainees and trainers, and updating data periodically.

Job Fair Section

This department holds an annual event organized by the university on its campus over a whole day in which the largest number of institutions, companies and organizations in Lebanon and the region meet with the university family (students, professors, and administrators), and students present to company representatives copies of their CVs, and listen from them to various standards The exhibition provides students with the opportunity to listen and learn about the experiences of some of the most prominent graduates who present their path of success that began with the Islamic University in Lebanon, providing students with an initial vision of the challenges that await them, in terms of the diversity of opportunities or their limitations, and building The student’s distinguished professional personality, and opening communication channels with various groups and segments of the local and foreign professional community.

Department of Professional Qualification

It is one of the three sections of the Center for Jobs and Professions. It consists of a department head directly subordinate to the head of the center.

The department head is in charge of organizing courses, which are divided into two parts: The first section consists of special courses whose mission is to prepare the student for entry into state jobs in a manner, and the second part of the courses is directed to anyone who wants to improve his knowledge and update his professional skills.

The Department of Vocational Training organizes courses aimed at accompanying students after obtaining a license, supporting them, directing them and helping them to enter the labor market, stimulating and focusing information on students and working on filling gaps (if any) in some topics, reviewing the required basic materials In general, in most of the games, in addition to linguistically qualifying students, developing students’ skills and research abilities, and providing students with intensive experiences to develop their performance, by transferring the experiences and expertise of specialized professors, and achieving self-realization for the student who has the element of ambition and strengthening his leadership practices in life, And the participation of larger numbers of students in leadership activities, and the creation of an interactive environment among students.

Education Center

The aim of it is to provide an appropriate educational environment that allows the learner to benefit from multiple and different types of learning resources and provide him with self-education opportunities, enhance his research and exploration skills, and enable the teacher to follow modern methods of designing, developing, implementing and evaluating the lesson material. There is also a special department in the Education Center to receive student complaints and work to find solutions to them according to the specialists in the subject, whether administrative or academic problems.
