Overview

The Humanity-AI Driven Center for Innovation at the Islamic University of Lebanon (IUL) aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) with human values, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among engineers, educators, researchers, and professionals. This initiative seeks to position IUL as a leader in ethical and inclusive AI, empowering students to develop innovative solutions that address community needs.

Vision & Mission

The vision is to become a regional and global leader, capitalising on the complementary qualities of artificial intelligence and human insight to create a sustainable future.

The mission is to create AI-powered disciplines rooted in human values, supporting inclusive progress and societal well-being, and promoting responsible and interdisciplinary innovation across all IUL branches and faculties.

Objectives

  • O1, to integrate the basics (programming languages, frameworks, etc.) and the introduction of AI into all domains through all IUL branches and departments.
  • O2, to build an R&D unit that holds the multi- and interdisciplinary discoveries & innovations.
  • O3, to build ethical AI through implementing policies and processes that prioritize explainability, accountability, and transparency.
  • O4, to unite the potential of researchers, policymakers, civil society, and industry activities for investigating AI solutions through various educational and social problems and needs.
  • O5, to discover talents and support startups through AI-powered student-led social projects as master’s and event projects.
